Peerfest 2024!!!

Look at God!!!! My workshop “Stand-Up to Stress: Comedy Boot Camp Workshop” presented by University of Texas-Austin & the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health is going to be the most rewarding yet challenging thing I have ever tried on a personal level because my topic is “Suicide Prevention” with a comedic twist! I lost my baby sister in 2021 this way and I don’t want anyone else to bury a family member this way.

"Welcome to a unique and engaging journey where laughter becomes your ultimate weapon against stress! This workshop, delivers in an interactive, audience participation format, invites participants to join a comedy boot camp designed to equip their mind with resilience and humor.

Led by seasoned comedian and Relationship Expert Amber Lowe, this experience blends comedy with practical strategies to tackle stress head-on. Participants will embark on a laughter-infused training session, exploring the art of finding humor even in life's challenging moments. Through a series of dynamic activities, attendees will discover the power of comedy to reshape perspectives and build mental fortitude.

Expect a mix of a live stand up performance, interactive exercises, and insightful discussions that seamlessly weave humor into stress management techniques. This workshop is not just about laughing; it's about arming yourself with the tools to face stressors confidently. Join us for an entertaining and empowering journey where comedy meets mental wellness, transforming stress into a source of strength. "Stand up to stress and let this suicide prevention workshop save lives"

Comedy has provided me a temporary escape from stress, boost mood by releasing endorphins, foster social connections through shared laughter, and provide a fresh perspective on difficult situations, helping to reframe them in a more positive light.

Additionally, humor has served as a coping mechanism, helping me to navigate challenges and find resilience in the face of adversity. Overall, incorporating comedy into my life has contributed to greater emotional well-being and a more positive outlook on life.

I am working on getting my MHPS accreditation and will focus on mental health and how it affects all of our relationships. Thank God for giving me the strength and courage to discuss this publically🙏 Prayers up my prayer warriors, this will take everything in me to pull off and keep my composure and it’s only because God will give me the way.

It’s one thing to be funny in a comedy club, it’s another to present a comedic suicide prevention workshop but my baby sister was with me every show and open mic from the very beginning and was one of the funniest people I ever met! I do this in her honor Autumn Rountree ❤️ RIP sissy 🙏
